The Genetic Resources Gateway– a crowd-sourced platform to guide you through the landscape of forest, plant and animal genetic resources in Europe - is online! This is one of the key products of the GenRes Bridge project, a joint initiative of the three European networks for genetic resources, ECPGR, EUFORGEN and ERFP.
The Genetic Resources Gateway provides support to policy makers, educators, land managers, breeders, researchers and journalists to access data and information on genetic resources. Users that are interested to access the material to inform their own work can use the mask with several filtering options as the entry point to easily find a wide range of key materials and organisations on genetic resources.
We invite stakeholders from organisations working on genetic resources in Europe and in the neighboring countries to register and add relevant materials to be featured on the Genetic Resources Gateway using the back office panel. By adding your organisation and key content (multimedia material, technical guidelines, maps, projects, databases and success stories) you will become an “editor” of the Gateway.
The Gateway makes use of the Structured Data (schema.org) for improving the search experience and ensuring that the material on the Gateway is easily findable on the web-browsers. By sharing your work through the Gateway, you will increase the visibility and accessibility of your organisation’s work on genetic resources.
The Gateway is in its very first steps, but there are already many organisations and contents to browse. The platform’s ultimate completeness and relevance will depend upon the contributions of its users and editors, we therefore need your help to make the most of the Gateway´s powerful search tools.
If you have any doubts you can consult our FAQ and infographics or contact the support team at genresbridge@efi.int. If you face any technical problems or issues, we can offer one-to-one sessions to clarify any doubts and receive feedback.
The Gateway was launched on 18 May 2021 and you can access it from here.
